A follower of the Layene Sufi brotherhood poses in a sea grotto in Dakar, where the reborn prophet Muhammad is said to have lived for 20 years. The Layene are another Sufi Brotherhood in Senegal like the Mourides. In 1884, their founder Seydina Limamob Laye claimed to be the Mahdi, the reincarnation of the Prophet Muhammad. The Layene believe that Islam will be reformed through the teachings and light of their founder to find its way back to peace, the original meaning of the word Islam.
